Using state of the art technology, we employ
Quantitative EEG to create brain maps which illustrate the
electrical activity of the brain. This is then statistically
compared to a database of ‘normal’ brain activity, providing a
quantitative indication of the differences in brain function from
normal. The functional Brainwave patterns so revealed can indicate
the underlying brain physiology that may be associated with certain
dysfunctional conditions, as well as the severity of the condition.
The QEEG brain map of brainwave activity guides
appropriate neurofeedback training to address any deviations in
brainwave activity, normalising brain function and reducing
symptoms. Nutritional supplementation may also be necessary to
optimise brain health.
Our approach is based on scientific evidence from
continuing research in Neurofeedback which first started in 1970
with Professor Barry Sterman in the EEG Lab of the University of Los
Angeles in California.
Hundreds of scientific papers since attest to the
effectiveness of Neurofeedback. Several recent research and review
papers support the effectiveness of Neurofeedback, which has been
shown to be as effective as stimulant medication (Ritalin and
Dexamphetamine) in the treatment of ADHD. Our Neurofeedback training
methods are in accordance with this research literature.
We recognise that the same conditions can present
with diverse underlying physiology in different individuals. As a
result, we pride ourselves on providing highly individualised care,
based on the results of objective measurement. We regularly assess
progress to ensure treatment is having the most beneficial effect
possible. |
