Behavioural
difficulties
Children with ADHD, or those who are generally oppositional,
noncompliant or ‘wilful’, can make life difficult for entire
families. At Sydney Neurofeedback Centre a full assessment of the
problem involves a brainmap or QEEG to identify brainwave anomalies,
as well as interviews, observations and questionnaires to assess the
severity and specific nature of the behavioural difficulties. A plan
to address the problems will be devised with the parents, based on
the findings of the assessment. The plan usually involves the
following components:
-
Individually tailored training is undertaken
to give parents very specific strategies and tools to increase
their child’s compliance and their own confidence.
-
If indicated to be necessary by the QEEG, the
child undertakes neurofeedback training to address brainwave
anomalies.
-
Nutritional supplementation optimises brain
functioning to increase the effectiveness of neurofeedback.
-
This holistic approach gives each individual
component of the plan optimum likelihood of success.
